This week we talked a lot about copyright and fair use. My Farther worked for many years in computer security and privacy. So ideas around rules of the internet and how it should be governed were often discussed in my house growing up. That being said it’s rare that I have personally thought about how I should be doing these things. I appreciated all the connections to teaching that were made in class. In a lot of our courses last semester we talked about the collaborative effort that teaching is. We even talked a bit about sharing resources and how open most teachers are to sharing things. But I never really thought about how that would look in practice. After learning about the different types of copyright I am hoping now to learn how to properly use them.

It’s great that your dad had some background knowledge that he could share with your family, I know lots of people know very little about copyright, and it is so important in this digital age. I am glad to know that most teachers are open to sharing resources, I feel that will make life a lot easier for us all.

It is good that you started with some background with copyright, I went into class with barely any knowledge so it was a lot to take in! I am also hoping to learn more about how to properly use resources and agree with what you said about the importance of collaboration between teachers.

Hi Alice!
Its great that your father is experienced in this area, that will be very helpful for you in the future. Before class this week I hadn’t really thought about all of the rules of copyright either. Remembering the many rules of copyright will definitely be important in our future careers, especially when we are collaborating with other teachers.
